Sport

At Kloof Senior Primary, we offer an extensive sports programme which includes: cricket, hockey, soccer, swimming, netball, rugby, cross-country and athletics. As the children have been taught the foundation skills from Grade 1 to Grade 3, we are then able to continue to build on those skills, to ensure that their sporting abilities grow exponentially. We are blessed with passionate teachers and external coaches who allow each age group to be divided into smaller groups with more one-on-one training to enhance the different skills being taught. All the PE lessons and sports practices are developed and set up by the Sports Department.

MEET OUR SPORTS DEPARTMENT

Hennie Swart (Head of Extra-Murals)

I oversee the Extra-Mural program at Kloof Senior Primary School and aspire to holistically develop learners to grow into well-balanced and well-disciplined members of society, who are able to face any challenges that come their way with confidence and courage.

I have over 10 years of experience in the extra mural department and am also a qualified teacher.  I enjoy my time in the classroom as much as I do on the sports field.  I have coached many district sides and first teams in various sporting codes, gaining a vast amount of overall knowledge and experience.

In my free time I enjoy lots of family time, and I play some golf. I also am an oval track racing driver and travel the country racing at different venues. When I am not too busy with school and racing I still play cricket and rugby at club level.

Keep your eye on the ball!

Brittany McCallum (Sports Intern)

My passion for sports, adventure, fitness and fun make me the outdoor, nature-loving person that I am.

I love all things sport related and have personally represented various sporting codes at KZN & Highway level.

Introduction into sport at school level is key to building foundations based on fun, social interaction and discipline, so to be a part of inspiring children to cultivate their own love for a sport of their choice, is something I feel honoured to be a part of.

My Experience:

  • I have my diploma in sports & exercise,
  • I have qualifications in coaching and refereeing,
  • I have my 1st level First Aid certification,

I love being on the sports field! My goal while working with the children is to help them improve at sport, develop physical skills, make friends, have fun, learn teamwork and improve their self-esteem.

I am currently completing my Bachelor of Education degree and I am a 3rd year student. I am a huge rugby and football fan, and these are the two sporting codes in which I excel. I have represented the KwaZulu-Natal football team in following age groups: u/14, u/16 and u/19.
